Native Melody

A 3-year-old filly by Bungle IntheJungle from the family of sprint star, Kingsgate Native, in training with Gay Kelleway in Exning, Newmarket.

Native Melody is a lovely, strong filly who is still relatively lightly raced. Her first success came on the all-weather at Lingfield in August 2023. She was also placed twice as a 2-year-old and once as a 3-year-old. It has taken a little while to find the right trip for her, but we believe that nut has now been cracked, and both we and Gay think there is a lot more to come from her, fingers crossed.

Having given her a short break, the plan for “Mel” is to run her on the all-weather tracks for a couple of months, before giving her another break and bringing her back in time for the 2024 turf season.

An unraced 2-year-old filly by Inns of Court from the family of Barney Roy and Gordon Lord Byron, in training with Gay Kelleway in Exning, Newmarket.

Like her sire, is likely to benefit a lot from having been given time to develop and grow into her frame to make an exciting 3-year-old prospect.

The current plan for her is to start her racing career on the all-weather track this winter, which will be the opportunity to discover a lot more about her and we are looking forward to seeing how she progresses in advance of the 2024 flat turf season.

Rock on Tommy

8-year-old grey gelding by Fair Mix out of Little Carmela – 5 times winning mare. Rock on Tommy is in training with Olly Murphy whose yard is based just outside Stratford on Avon and he has become a bit of a stable star!

Rock on Tommy is the first horse we bred and is now a 4 time winner over hurdles and been placed 4 times in 24 runs. He is a fun consistent horse who always gives his all, especially at his beloved Uttoxeter, where he is now well-known! He prefers the softer ground, so we expect to have plenty of fun with him over the coming months into 2024. 

Barricane

Barricane is a lightly raced bay gelding by Kayf Tara in training with Olly Murphy near Stratford on Avon in Warwickshire.

A lovely natured horse who cost £210,000 as a 3-year-old, Barricane is a full brother to the useful Constantine Bay who finished 4th in 3 mile novice hurdles at both the Cheltenham Festival and Grand National meeting at Aintree. 

He won both of his races for us after we acquired him in 2021, with successes at Uttoxeter and Leicester before suffering a minor leg injury after which we gave him plenty of time to recover. He had his first run of the season at Warwick and will look to run again in the next few weeks before going Novice Chasing. He looks like a lovely staying chaser.
