Breeding Syndicates

Our successful journey breeding horses began with our first Broodmare Little Carmela, who gave birth to Rock on Tommy at our base in Warwick in 2015. He is our flagbearer at Premier Thoroughbred Racing. She subsequently had foaled 2 colts, both by Telescope, one in 2017 and one in 2018.  We sold No But I Will to Ireland where he won his first Point to Point, before coming back to the UK and going into training with Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero. He won his novice hurdle at Bangor in April 2023, and he has also now been placed 3 times from his 6 runs under rules. His full brother Rock Steady Eddie placed twice in 3 Point to Point runs, and is now in training with Susan Corbett, placing third in his first national hunt flat race at Hexham in October 2023.

After we tragically lost Carmela foaling in 2019, we leased a broodmare Kwikstep, by Nathaniel. She produced us a lovely filly by Scorpion, born in 2022, who we have named Ruby. The plan is to give Ruby time to grow and mature before then breaking her in and putting her into pre-training.

Our breeding operation has now turned to breeding flat horses.

In late 2021, we retired our first flat horse Lady Quickstep, and she joined our team at Warwick. Lady Quickstep, by Sir Prancelot, was forward and talented as a 2-year-old, opening her account on her first run, winning at Brighton over 5 furlongs.
There was then a plan for her to run at Royal Ascot, where she was entered in the Windsor Castle. She ran in some nice races along the way, including the May meeting at York, Redcar where she was beaten a short head by Liberty Beach and the Hilary Needler at Beverley where she finished 4th, again behind Liberty Beach. Unfortunately, the ground turned to heavy, so we regrettably decided not to run her at Royal Ascot, doing the right thing by the horse. Shortly after, she suffered an injury to her pastern, which required surgery and a year off the track.

Having a short, relatively underwhelming summer campaign on her return to the turf, after a further break, she returned to the track as a 4-year-old, with a win at Wolverhampton, followed by a further place there and a further win at Yarmouth in August 2021, before being retired to become a broodmare in September 2021, with her highest RPR of 82 as a 2-year-old.
She subsequently gave birth in February 2023 to a lovely bay colt “Kit” by Havana Grey. The plan is for Kit to be prepared for the yearling sales in autumn 2024.

In October 2023, our 6-time winning mare Habanero Star retired from racing to join Lady Quickstep. Habanero Star, a daughter of Mayson, has lived up to her name, as she has been a true star for us over the years. Habs, as she is known to us all, has been such a consistent horse, improving year on year. Achieving her best RPR of 67 on turf as a 5 year old, she boasts impressive stats of 6 wins, 7 seconds and 5 thirds from 40 races.
Habs best runs have mainly come at the seaside, with her saving her best for Yarmouth and Brighton, under successful female jockeys Hollie Doyle and Saffie Osborne, although a couple of the most memorable runs have been at Goodwood, where she ran during Covid when only owners were allowed to go and this summer she finished an impressive 2nd, a special moment for all of us in her final year.
After a few weeks in the paddocks at Warwick, the plan is to prepare Habanero Star for covering in February 2024. We are excited to offer a new syndicate for her first foal and the search starts here for her first suitor…watch this space!
