Slimbo heads to the sales!

June 10, 2020

Little Carmela's 2nd foal, Slimbo, is heading to the Goffs Land Rover sale over in Ireland in August. Slimbo, as we called him, is by Telescope and we sold him as a yearling at the Goffs January sale in 2018. He was purchased by Morgan Sheehan who has had him in his care for the last 2 years.

It's now time for the next stage in his journey as he heads to the Land Rover sale as an unbroken 3 year old. He has filled out into a very impressive frame and it'll be very interesting to see what he makes at the sales in a few months.

Habanero Star finishes 3rd on debut

June 02, 2020

Habanero Star ran a blinder on debut to finish 3rd at Yarmouth behind two nice fillies. She was very professional throughout under Luke Morris and just got tired in the last 100 yards after being prominent throughout.

She'll improve plenty for the experience and is an exciting prospect.

It's great to have runners again in the first week of racing resuming and we look forward to a prosperous summer.

"Living the Fairytale with Lady Quickstep" by Debs Johnson

May 31, 2020

All of us at PTR are eagerly awaiting Lady Quickstep's return to the racecourse. When she finally does so, it will be about a year since she last showed us what she can do.

It seems like a long time ago when we agreed to buy Lady Q, as a yearling who arrived at Gay Kelleway's yard from Ireland in quite a sorry state, tugging on everyone's heart strings. The ugly duckling with a big personality soon blossomed into a swan and the rest is history, bursting onto Brighton racecourse on her debut in May 2019 with a resounding 4 length success at 25/1.

Respectable runs followed at York, Redcar & Beverley, where she finished closely behind Liberty Beach on two occasions, who is now rated 104. Lady Q held an entry at Royal Ascot, only to be denied her run by the rain... otherwise, who knows!

Now fully recovered from a split pastern which was surgically repaired by the fantastic vets in Newmarket, Lady Q is now fit and raring to get back on the track in the next few weeks. She has strengthened up from 2 to 3, her coat is gleaming and she'd ready to rock.

Racing set to return...

May 25, 2020

Racing is set to return to the UK on Monday 1st June with a provisional fixture list published from June - August. We are looking forward to the first flat meeting as PTR have entries for both Lady Quickstep & Habanero Star during the first week of racing. Jump racing is set to resume from 1st July and we look forward to both Rock on Tommy & Friary Land kicking off their campaigns towards the start of the new season.

If you're interested in racehorse ownership - get in touch with the team and we'd be delighted to talk to you about possibilities.

Shares available in Friary Land

February 23, 2020

We have a variety of shares available in Friary Land - a 6 year old gelding by Schiaparelli to be trained by Olly Murphy. He's finished placed in a couple of point to points and has now got a handicap mark after 4 runs in maiden hurdles over in Ireland.

He has a piece of stand out form beaten just 13 lengths in a point to point behind January Jets (rated 123 under rules) and Big Shark (rated 137 under rules) who was just 3 lengths in front of Friary Land in 2nd.

He is a big, scopey individual and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve. Olly acquired Hunters Call (who went on to win a Grade 3 Handicap) off the same trainer & owner combination in Ireland. Fingers crossed he can do something similar.

Get in touch with the team for more information on how to get involved.

Rock on Tommy nearing racecourse debut!

February 22, 2020

Rock on Tommy continues to work towards his racecourse debut.

PTR owners enjoyed a morning on the gallops with Olly Murphy as he prepares his string for The Cheltenham Festival.

Rock on Tommy will look to start off in a bumper over the next few weeks as soon as the ground dries up.

Quiet Time for PTR!

February 15, 2020

Unfortunately, it's been a very quiet few months for PTR.

Lady Quickstep suffered a setback at the end of her 2 year old campaign and so her season was cut short. She's back in very good form now and will be running over the next few weeks. She is a very fast filly and will remain at 5 furlongs.

Habanero Star is an imposing 3 year old filly. She's been bought along slowly as she was filling into her frame. She will continue to step up her work and look to make her racecourse debut in the spring.

Rock on Tommy also suffered a minor setback over Christmas. He wasn't far off making his debut then and he's back in full work now working towards his racecourse debut. He does everything nicely at home so fingers crossed he'll produce it on the track.

Olly Murphy & Gay Kelleway are both in red hot form at the moment and we hope that can continue when our horses hit the track.

Lady Quickstep wins on debut!

April 30, 2019

It was great to get our first winner on the board at Brighton as Lady Quickstep showed them a clean pair of heels to win impressively on debut by 4 lengths.

She was given an excellent ride by William Cox amid signs of inexperience!

She'll now be aimed at The Marygate listed race at York on 17th May before a potential shot at Royal Ascot! The dream is still alive!

Little Carmela gone but not forgotten

April 17, 2019

Devastated to report that we lost Little Carmela during foaling on Sunday night. Unfortunately, the foal didn't make it either and we lost both of them.

Little Carmela was the flag bearer for Premier Thoroughbred Racing and was the horse that made this all possible.

She had a great career on the track, winning 5 times, 3 on the flat and 2 over hurdles. She ran a total of 52 times and finished in the first 4 on 25 occasions. She then went on to breed 3 lovely progeny, Rock on Tommy now aged 4, a 2 year old by Telescope and she also has a yearling by Telescope. We are lucky to still own Rock on Tommy & the yearling. We hope that they are able to continue Little Carmela's legacy and do her proud on the track.

She was much loved and will be sorely missed!

Warwickshire Wealth Management join the team!

April 13, 2019

We are delighted to announce that Warwickshire Wealth Management have agreed to become the sponsor of our two fillies in training with Gay Kelleway.

The fillies are now named Lady Quickstep (Sir Prancealot) and Habanero Star (Mayson) and are both making excellent progress.

Lady Quickstep is slightly more forward and is working well. She'll make her racecourse debut over the next few weeks, whereas, Habanero Star is slightly bigger and will take a bit more time to fill in her frame.

They are both very exciting! We do have a few shares available in Habanero Star so please get in touch if that is of interest.

Eolian 2nd again...

April 02, 2019

Eolian took another step forward at Market Rasen, finishing 2nd again behind Laura Morgan's Hasaab.

He finished 2nd at Huntingdon in the middle of March after finishing 4th at Catterick on handicap debut. He's finished 4th, 2nd, 2nd on his three starts in handicaps so it'll only be a matter of time before he gets his head in front.

The team at Olly Murphy's & Charlie Poste's have done a great job with him!

He's been raised another lb in the handicap up to a rating of 100 which will make life slightly tougher but he is improving and is still unexposed.

Little Eddie at Doncaster Sales

January 31, 2019

We took our yearling colt by Telescope up to the Goffs Sales at Doncaster.

The sales are a completely new experience for a young horse and Little Eddie got a bit overwhelmed with the situation and he didn't quite reach his reserve price in the ring and so he has come home.

He'll be in our care now and we look forward to seeing him on the track in the future.

He's got a lovely temperament, a great walk and lots of scope.

Exiting times as PTR joins Gay Kelleway

November 20, 2018

Exciting times for Premier Thoroughbred Racing...

To mark our first birthday, we have purchased 2 yearling fillies to go into training with Gay Kelleway in Newmarket. One filly by Mayson and one by Sir Prancelot. They are both lovely types and look sure to be ready to roll for a 2 year old campaign.

We are delighted to be working with Gay and we are looking forward to seeing what the girls can do on the track!

We have different share options available making racehorse ownership affordable and just in time for Christmas!

Give yourself or a loved one a very special gift this year and get involved.

We pride ourselves on giving our owners the very best experiences so you are guaranteed a lot of fun, new friends and fantastic memories.

So Sorry Sarah Getting Closer...

October 19, 2018

So Sorry Sarah ran a cracker at Stratford to finish 2nd under a great ride from Alice Stevens. She continues in good form and will benefit hugely from soft ground but with the country being so dry at the moment, she had to go and take her chance. We are now doing a rain dance and hoping she can go one better when she has some cut in the ground.

Eolian & Rock on Tommy

September 30, 2018

Eolian & Rock on Tommy are back in the capable hands of Charlie Poste &

Fran Nimmo in pre-training before they head back to Olly Murphy. They will

be spending 6-8 weeks with Charlie & Fran building up fitness and schooling.

The video opposite shows Eolian leading Rock on Tommy up the gallops.

June 30, 2018

The 9-year-old mare by Beneficial has finished 4th or 5th in all of her 6 runs to date over hurdles. Also, a winner of a point to point, she looks a ready made winner in waiting over the coming months.

We have a few shares available in her with no buy-in for just £249 / month.

New Arrival

May 31, 2018

Premier Thoroughbred Racing's broodmare, Little Carmela, has given birth to a bay/grey colt by Telescope.

A lovely foal with a good deal of scope and an excellent temperament, he shows a lot of crucial attributes for his age.

We look forward to the future with him.

jockey.

Eolian schooling at Towcester

February 02, 2018

As Eolian's hurdle debut beckons, Olly Murphy sent a group of juvenile hurdlers for a schooling session at Towcester Racecourse. Our exciting prospect jumped with aplomb and travelled well under Fergus Gregory.

Only a couple of shares available so get in touch for more information.

Mister Chow wins The Premier Thoroughbred Racing Juvenile Hurdle

January 25, 2018

Premier Thoroughbred Racing were delighted to sponsor the Juvenile Hurdle at Warwick Racecourse on Thursday 25th January. The Gary Moore trained, Mister Chow, ran out a convincing winner by 3 1/4 lengths. After finishing 2nd on his hurdle debut, it was an encouraging step forward for the son of Nathaniel, who had previously been beaten by PTR's very own, Eolian, on the flat at Ffos Las.

Members of the PTR team, along with a few syndicate members, were on hand to present the prize to the winning connections.

Eolian - Shares Available

January 01, 2018

There are just a few shares remaining in Eolian. An exciting prospect to go hurdling, Eolian was a winner on the flat with a BHA rating of 72. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in racehorse ownership and experience the excitement of horse racing.
